Late.Narayanrao Amrutrao Deshmukh College
Chandur Bazar is a town to which around 50 small villages are attached in respect of agricultural needs and commerce. These small villages still are not having higher educational institutes. To provide them an equal opportunity of higher education, People’s Welfare Society Amravati came forward and established the college in 1991 named after Late Narayanrao Amrutrao Deshmukh who was a social worker with foresight of higher education. The college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. The courses, the college is offering, are B.A., M.A.(Geography), and B.C.A.

About People’s Welfare Society
People’s Welfare Society, Amravati was established in 1982 in view of imparting education to rural boys and girls, especially to those who were deprived of education and living in tribal areas. A renowned social worker and litterateur Late P.N. alias Nanasaheb Deshmukh, inspired to do something constructive, founded People’s Welfare Society. At present, there are 26 educational units being run by the society. Most of schools and junior colleges are functioning in remote and tribal areas of Amravati district. The society has also been conducting various philanthropic activities such as tree plantation, blood donation camp, etc.
The society always wants to provide help to needy persons. The society started educational institutes at such places where no education had reached. In keeping the view of need of Vidarbha region, the society established “College of Food Technology” which is single one in Vidarbha region. Nanasaheb Deshmukh was President of the society from 1982 to 2013. After his sad demise on 26th August,2013, his wife Smt. Vasudhatai Deshmukh, former Minister of State, Govt. of Maharashtra, is leading the society as the President.
